Nine arrests over local fraud probe

 

The arrests follow an operation codenamed Operation Seashell in which officers have scrutinised over 100 transactions linked to bank accounts belonging to the suspects.

 

The police will consult with the Crown Prosecution Service in the coming days before the nine are expected to return to Newtown Police Station on Friday for possible charges.

 

Detective Inspector Diane Davies said: “This is a time of year where family finances can be pushed to the limit, it’s never a good time to be victim of a crime but the impact at this time is particularly hard hitting.”
