Is this Venice or Welshpool?

 

Taken this afternoon from the cock pit of a Wales Air Ambulance, Welshpool appears to be a town under siege from the elements as it battles to hold off rising waters.

 

Pilot Martin Darlington posted the blurry image on Twitter this afternoon and commented: “Welshpool (blurry lights on right) embarks on its bid to become known as the Venice of Mid Wales.”

 

The overnight storm has stretched emergency services to the limits over the past 24 hours with call-outs across the area, and the air ambulance was required on several occasions to support.

 

More rain is expected over the next 48 hours but not as severe as we have already experienced.
