04/01/2012 @ 04:09

Powys County Council will waive the cost of closing streets to celebrate The Queen's Diamond Jubilee on June 5.

Applications are now being taken for streets to be closed for parties over the Bank Holiday weekend which will incorporate two days off – June 4 & 5.

Cllr Geraint Hopkins, Cabinet Member for Environment and Regulation, said: “We have made a commitment to waive the normal fees for this service in recognition of the occasion. However, an assessment as to whether the closure can be granted will need to be made.”

An application form and further information can be obtained by contacting the council's Traffic Section by emailing traffic@powys.gov.uk or telephoning 0845 602 7035 or 01597 827465.
