Powys Chairman calls for dyslexia group

09/01/2012 @ 04:46

Members of the public are being invited to an open meeting to discuss the possibility of forming a countywide dyslexia support group.

The meeting will be hosted by Chairman of Powys County Council, Cllr Barry Thomas (right), on Saturday, January 28. Dyslexia is Cllr Thomas' chosen campaign for the year and he has been raising the profile of the condition since he took-up his civic role in May this year.

Cllr Thomas, who has the condition himself, has already completed a series of information roadshows. It is in response to these and correspondence that he has received that he would like to help form a countywide support group or organisation.

Cllr Thomas explained: “I was fortunate to meet many people during the roadshows and it was clear that many have similar issues. So the meeting aims to bring together anyone from the county with an interest in dyslexia so we can discuss forming a support group or network and make positive steps forward to support adults and children in the county."

The meeting takes place at County Hall, Llandrindod Wells.
