It’s game on! But the date has changed.
Sky Sports has confirmed that its camera crew and celebrity ex-player will be at Welshpool Town on Saturday, January 28, a week later than originally planned.
The satellite broadcaster has been in regular contact with manager Dave Jones this week after veteran commentator Jeff Stelling promised to follow the club’s fortunes after belittling the strugglers live on air to millions.
And that promise will lead to the match with Rhayader being filmed by the cameras with a “well known” ex-professional wearing a Welshpool shirt for the day too. The date change points to the possibility of it being one of their bigger names too.
“On behalf of the club, I want to thank Waterloo Rovers, Berriew and of course Rhayader for agreeing to change fixtures in order to make this all happen,” said Jones. “It will be a great occasion for the club, the town and the Spar League so we really appreciate the support from the clubs and Phil Woosnam from the league.”
