A safety passport course for construction site workers is now available in Montgomeryshire for the first time.

The Client Contractor National Safety Group (CCNSG) course is being delivered by engineering and management training company Myrick Training Services at Myrick House, Hendomen, Montgomery.

The next two-day course, culminating in a test, is being held from February 29 to March 1, costing £125 for Myrick – the training wing of Mid and North Wales Training Group - members and £135 for non members.

The Safety Passport is designed to ensure that anyone working in the process industries is trained to a minimum standard of safety competency prior to undertaking on-site work.  The passport lasts for three years from the date of the course and is transferable across sites.

“The safety passport is an invaluable tool for both employers and employees in this highly mobile and geographically dispersed industry,” said Janice Howells of Myrick. “It’s a very useful qualification to have for anybody involved in health and safety whether they are working on a construction site or in a factory or visiting other sites.

“The aim of the CCNSG Safety Passport scheme is to ensure a basic knowledge of health and safety for all site personnel to enable them, after appropriate site induction, to work more safely with lower risk to themselves and others.

“The course comprises four sessions - safe behaviour at work, a safe place to work, safe systems of work, safety problems and safe solutions.”
