Force flies flag for lesbians and gays

 

The flag (pictured) will be flying across the force as part of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) History Month which celebrates the lives and achievements of the LGBT community.

 

Dyfed Powys Police, which this year was listed 75th among the top 100 UK employers in the Stonewall Equality Index, has made a strong commitment to become an employer of choice for lesbian, gay and bisexual staff.

 

“Flying the flag throughout LGB History Month sends a clear signal that Dyfed Powys Police promote the human rights and equal treatment of people within the LGBT community both within the force and our wider community,” said Superintendent Claire Parmenter, the force’s Diversity Champion for sexual orientation. “Our aim is to ensure that our staff and our communities recognise the emphasis that we place on Equality and Diversity and I am pleased that the positive feedback received from LGB community members has supported that.
