Boost for Social Enterprises

If you are a community group wanting to undertake trading activity or a private sector business who would like to engage with a local social enterprise, then the Successful Social Enterprise event is for you.

The event will be held by the Powys Regeneration Partnership (PRP) on March 21 at the Elephant & Castle Hotel, Newtown and will provide opportunities to network, share lessons, ask questions and dispel some of the myths about social enterprise.

Organisers say it will aim to inform, inspire, and provide potential business opportunities for delegates and exhibitors, with Richard Marsh from Cae Post in Welshpool and Sophie Tranchell from Divine Chocolate as keynote speakers.

A range of exhibition stands will also be available to offer advice and funding opportunities, as well as demonstrating examples of some of the very best social enterprise Powys has to offer. Local social enterprises already taking part include New Radnor based Ten Green Bottles, Beacons Creative from Brecon and Trefeglwys Community Cooperative project near Caersws.

Powys Regeneration Partnership is working with key stakeholders within the sector to illustrate that Powys is a leader in social enterprise, and to encourage further developments.

Phil Freeman, Chairman of the Powys Regeneration Partnership, said: “The Social Enterprise sector is one of the most exciting and fastest-growing sectors in Powys. At its best it brings together a sharp nose for business with a strong commitment to community values, whether they are cultural, ethical or environmental, and has real potential to transform the lives of everyone in Powys. To put it simply, it is the future, and Powys can lead the way.”
