‘Bizarre’ overnight raid on Raven

It is not often that thieves can be described as discerning but that’s the only explanation following last night’s break-in at the Raven Inn, Welshpool.
Landlord Lee Bocking was looking forward to his first day off in three months today but awoke to find thieves had smashed their way into the popular pub’s back room.
Fearing the worse, he was pleasantly surprised to find that they had not attempted to make their way into the pub’s bar and restaurant area, and had instead made off with just three bottles of spirits.
“It is bizarre,” said Lee. They have smashed a window to get into the function room and after going to all that risk and effort they have only taken three bottles from the optics. I bet that they weren’t even full.”
The theft is even more baffling considering the raiders appear to have ignored full bottles of spirits, a full case of red wine and even an ipod.
Police have attended the crime scene and anyone with information on the theft – which happened sometime between 1-7am this morning – is urged to contact them.
