Police appeal for crash witnesses

 

They have also confirmed that as well as the two women who we reported earlier were injured in the accident, a man in his 30’s was airlifted to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where his condition is stable.

 

“This was a serious accident,” said Sergeant Huw Thomas of the Mid Wales Roads Policing Unit. “If anyone witnessed the collision or has any information which they think is relevant, I’d ask them to please contact officers on 101.”

 

The road was closed nearly all night as investigators scoured the scene of the crash which involved two cars and a lorry.

 

Later the same day, a second main road into Welshpool was closed following an accident at Buttington. No reports of serious casualties have been received from that incident.
