Welshpool Livestock Sales report on a highly successful auction at Buttington Cross Welshpool on Monday.
 
OTMS (22)
A seasonal entry of 22 Over Thirty Month Old Cattle sold to an average of 130ppkg for the cows, 157ppkg for the heifers and bulls to144ppkg. C J Davies & Son Waengwyn sold a British Blue cow weighing 849kg to a top price of £1188.60. A Limousin cow weighing 756kg sold for £1179.36 from E Jones & Son Penbontpren. A Limousin bull from S J Smith Penybryn achieved £1297.80. C J Davies & Son Waengwyn receives the Brairwood Products Ltd prize of £25 for the highest price older cow sold on the day. Weekly sale of Over Thirty Month older cattle at 9am prompt every Monday. We will be holding a section for TB Tested animals. This will take place in ring 2 and will commence at 9am. FAT CATTLE (19)
An entry of 5 fat steers sold to average 211ppkg and 14 heifers sold to average 205ppkg. GW & BA Haynes Trefnant Isaf sold three fat heifers to a top of 230ppkg, 225ppkg and 223ppkg which where purchased by Glyn Morris for MJ Birtwistle & Co. EE& MJ Jones & Sons Cwmbychan sold four fat steers to 220ppkg, 219ppkg, 217ppkg and 193ppkg. GW & BA Haynes Trefnant Isaf receives the Briarwood Products Ltd prize of £25 for the highest ppkg animal sold on the day.

Super Lights (up to 25.4kg) (56) to 212ppkg from R G Bebb & Co Carmynach. Average of 195ppkg.
Lights (25.5kg to 32kg) (274) to 227ppkg from W I Ellis Talwrn. Others to 218ppkg from I R H Bebb Ffridd Cowny. Average of 213ppkg
Standards (32.1kg to 39kg) (1078) to 249ppkg from M P Adams Foxholes Farm. Others to 236ppkg from EO & VJ Roberts Cefn Coed. Average of 214ppkg.
Mediums (39.5kg to 45.5kg) (1906) to 234ppkg from M P Adams Foxholes Farm. Others to 233ppkg from P & P Hughes Hargreaves Farm. Average of 215ppkg.
Heavies (45.1kg to 52kg) (2007) to 210ppkg from DG & JM Jones Trefnant Hall, E Jackson Lane Farm & FG & G Mountford Middle Heldre. Others to 207ppkg from E Davies & Co Red House. Average of 191ppkg. 
Over Weights (over 52kg) (948) to 182ppkg from RL & ME Jukes Tynybryn, R Swift & Sons Red House Farm & AK & RC Tudor Lower Heblands. Others to 180ppkg from D M Jones Pwll. Average of 170ppkg.    .

CULL EWE (1077)
A reduced entry of only 1077 cull ewes selling to a fantastic average of £76.49per head for the ewes and £88.67 per head for the cull rams. Ewes topped at £142 per head from E W Howells & Son Oakwood and G A Thomas Penllain sold ewes to £140 per head. Cull rams topped at £138 per head from J Allsop & Sons Enchamrch Farm. Weekly sale of Cull ewes to immediately follow the sale of fat hoggetts, at approximately 12 noon.
 
STORE LAMBS & IN LAMB EWES
A reduced entry of 141 store lambs selling to an average of £52. Speckled theave lambs from J M Gayther Little Grogau while Mixed and Clean mule lambs from Messers Harding Pantygesail realised £59.50. Texelx wether lambs from G W Jones Henfryn sold to £74.50.
A slightly reduced entry of 131 couples this week with a strong demand shown. Top price of the day went to a Suffolkx yearling ewe with twin lambs at foot selling to £235 from I & J Evans LLwynhywel. As found ewes sold to a strong trade with mule ewes with twins lambs at foot from D & M Cooke Coppice Farm realising £197. More Couples Required next week.
An entry of 78 cade lambs selling to an aveage of £13.59. A Texelx theave lamb sold to £27 from E Jones & Son Penbontpren.
 
DAIRY COWS(18)
A Catalogue entry of 21 Dairy cows sold to a top price of £2100 from R R Corfield & Co Bronynant. T G Phillips & Co Burgedin sold a 1st calver to £1940. A special entry of seven Pedigree Holstein Friesian Bulling Heifers from DA & O Williams Penylan achieved £1005, £995, £990, £960, £950, £945 & £860.
