Take That Simon Cowell!

08/04/2012 @ 05:45

It started badly, but ended with three comprehensive ‘yes’ votes from the judges who were bowled over by Newtown singing sensation Alex Davies on last night’s Britain’s Got Talent.

We revealed in February that the 21-year-old student had made a big impact in his initial audition, but just how much of an impact was revealed last night as Alex won the hearts of millions.

But it got off to a bizarre start for Alex who was described as “looking like Mark Owen” by chief judge Simon Cowell. Fellow judges, the 3,500 crowd and hosts Ant and Dec gasped as baby faced Alex replied:

“I don’t know who that is but thank-you!”

Judge David Walliams then told him he was the one with nicest hair from Take That to which he smiled with a polite “thanks”.

But he let his talent do the talking with a superb performance which had the audience, and more importantly the judges, wanting more.

Cowell said: “I really, really like you. You have a very distinct voice, and a very distinct style.”

The judges then gave three yes votes to move Alex through to the second audition in London which has already taken place but a cloud of secrecy has been thrown around how he got on.

For now, the talented youngster has enjoyed a wave of local support with hundreds of messages posted on Facebook, and his You Tube videos have been swamped with views.
