Local bands to perform ‘marathon’ gig

10/04/2012 @ 04:57

Local bands have pledged their support for a one-off concert this Saturday in a bid to raise money for Save The Children.

Pulled together by Welshpool-based Soul Jets bass player Dewi Owen, three bands will perform at the Westwood with support from renowned local DJs for a musical extravaganza with all the proceeds going to the charity.

“I am running the London Marathon on April 22 so this is a way of kicking off the fund raising efforts in a way that everyone can enjoy,” said Dewi. “We are delighted to be playing in Welshpool again and it’s fantastic that other bands and DJs have pledged their time and expertise – knowing that the charity has this level of support will make the 26 miles in London easier to contemplate!”

The Soul Jets (pictured) were initially formed in 1999 to play at the Manchester United players’ millennium celebrations, and will be joined on the bill by other local favourites The Misty Blue Trio and Dai Robs & the Love. Joining the bands will be DJs LCG and Jon Pierce.

The music will start at 4pm and for more information, contact Dewi on 07967 105 473 or you can donate by texting ‘DEWI99 £1’ to 70070 or by logging on to www.justgiving.com/dewi-owen
