Police investigating recent burglaries have made a breakthrough after arresting a 46-year-old man in connection with one in Forden during March.

The man, said locally to be Andrew Roy Thorley from the Newtown area, was refused bail during his first appearance before Brecon magistrates on Saturday morning and he will appear before Mold Crown Court on April 20.

The arrest was made on Thursday and is connected with a house break-in on the night of March 24.

Forden has been targeted a number of times over the last six months and residents are urged to continue to be vigilant.

Detective Inspector Diane Davies said: “CID staff will always be involved in the investigation of dwelling house burglaries as we recognize the significant impact such offences have on victims and it remains a priority to bring offenders to Justice.”

A woman arrested in connection with the same incident has received a police caution for handling stolen goods.
