MP says “scrap one-way”

11/04/2012 @ 10:32

Montgomeryshire MP Glyn Davies has been officially asked for his opinion on Welshpool’s unpopular one-way system, and it is likely to be blunt.

Tough talking Mr Davies, who lives in Berriew, wrote on Twitter that he has “been invited to discuss Welshpool's One-Way system with Powys Council. Will tell them that I and most others think it should be scrapped.”

The review he is feeding into is led by Guilsfield County Councillor David Jones. Traders in the town have already said the system should be changed back to two-way traffic in parts while Easter Monday’s queues proved it certainly hasn’t alleviated any previous traffic problems, with some critics saying it is even worse.

Cllr Jones is believed to be in the final stages of his review but no date has yet been given as to when the recommendations will be published.
