'No' to Town Council election

Powys County Council will not back an election for the vacant seat on Welshpool Town Council.
And Welshpool councillors are angry that Powys will not support their plans to hold an election for the vacant seat in the Castle Ward.
The vacant seat arose when only three councillors stood for four seats in the May elections.
Welshpool Town Council has agreed that co-option will only be a last resort and unless the county authority revokes their decision not to support the council will meet again on July 18 to discuss the way forward.
The recommendation not to support will be ratified at the full meeting of Powys County Council on July 12.
