Protest concert as d-day approaches

24/07/2012 @ 03:51

As National Grid prepares to announce one of the most controversial decisions in the Montgomeryshire’s history, possible before this weekend, protesters have announced details of their big protest concert for Saturday.

Any day now, National Grid will decide where it will position a 20-acre substation and associated pylons and cabling for its controversial Mid Wales Connection project, a decision that will spark mass anger locally.

And campaigners in the meantime say Saturday’s event has become even more crucial.

The Sustainable Life Festival returns to Meifod’s Mathrafal Fields as an even bigger and better event this year and it is described as “a fun-packed opportunity to show just how much people living in this area value their beautiful countryside and their way of life”.

The festival will bring together families and communities for a day of enjoyment and relaxation, with live music, food, refreshments, Real Ale and full bar, children's entertainment, sports, local craft stalls, sustainable living stalls, and much more.

Top local acts as well as a number of talented performers from across the UK will take to the stage throughout the day along with a host of entertainment and stalls geared for people of all ages.

Tickets are priced £10 or £25 for a family. OAPs and 11-18 year-olds access for £6. They are available from Huw’s Shop in Meifod, Kings Head Meifod, Just 3 Drops in Llanfair Caereinion, Alexanders in Welshpool, the Derwen Garden Centre in Guilsfield or call the ticket hot-line on 07948121376.
