A local farming family is quids-in after an introduction during the Royal Welsh Show resulted in a £32,000 deal for one of their young Limousine bulls.
Colin and Elaine Lewis, and sons Graham and Terry, currently have 140 breeding females on their farm at Garth Vaughan, Cyfronydd, but it was their 16-month-old Limousin bull Ginola which caught the eye at Builth Wells.
And one person who was particularly impressed was Nick Layton, of Hereford who was looking for a new stock bull. Ginola came third in a strong young bull class but it was a winner in the eyes of Mr Layton who sought its owner immediately.
It is a timely windfall for the Lewis family which is in the process of taking on an additional 382-acre farm tenancy nine miles away at Buttington New Hall, almost doubling the farm to 705 acres.
