Local young farmers say ‘Back Beefy’

06/09/2012 @ 01:35

With another Young Farmers Club season set to begin, local YFC members will be out this weekend ‘Backing Beefy’ in a charity fundraiser.

Wales YFC Chairman, Dylan “Beefy” Jones, is cycling 500 miles around Wales to raise money for Wales Air Ambulance, a cause particularly key to the local agricultural community and will be reaching Welshpool tomorrow (Friday).

His aim is stop at each of the 12 County Federation Offices and the three air bases of the Wales Air Ambulance: Caernarfon, Welshpool and Swansea.

To welcome Beefy on his journey through Welshpool, Montgomeryshire’s young farmers are holding an event at Welshpool Airport at 6:30 pm.

“We aim to have a fun, social evening to raise money towards Air Ambulance,” said a spokesperson. “On site there will be a chance for everyone to pull a fire engine (perhaps a challenge for the strong Tug of War pullers?). There will also be refreshments available and Tiff and Taff (Wales YFC mascots), will be there to welcome us. We hope to see as many people to support Beefy on his Journey, but also to support the great cause.”
