APRIL LATEST: Volunteers NOT required

Dyfed-Powys Police has asked us to urgently communicate that volunteers are NOT required this morning in Machynlleth.
 
Residents have woken up this morning to well meaning social media users circulating an appeal for people to head to the town’s leisure centre to aid the search for April Jones who has been missing since Monday night.
 
But a spokesperson said: “Please can you correct the information currently going out – WE ARE NOT appealing for any volunteers to come out this morning.
 
"If you live within a 15-mile area of the town, then please check and re-check the buildings and land around you but the search in and around the town itself is being conducted by the specialist teams."
 
Meanwhile it has been revealed overnight that the five year-old takes medication for cerebral palsy and irritable bowel syndrome.
 
In other developments, police continue to appeal for information as the movements of chief suspect Mark Bridger who has been held in custody since 3.30pm on Tuesday. Police have been given further time to continue their questioning today.
 
The search has spread to six more areas of concern with more than 300 specialists from across the UK involved with 20 dog teams and boats from the coastguard and lifeboat. services.
