17/10/2012 @ 01:26

Welshpool hosts what promises to be the biggest ever Mid Wales Railway Show when enthusiasts from far and wide will visit the town.

The annual event takes place at Welshpool Town Hall on October 27 from 10.30am-4.30pm with the Newtown Model Railway Society saying extra space has been secured in anticipation for a major event.

Traders from across the UK will attend to display and sell new and second hand model railway items, tools, lights, books and other transport related items.

“We have the use of the Corn Exchange downstairs and the Assembly Room upstairs,” said Martin Rich, from the organisers. “This means that there will be more room to circulate and admire the models. There will be a good variety of exhibits from the small N Gauge to the larger O Gauge, including some vintage Hornby and Chad Valley clockwork Trains.”

Making a first visit this year will be a Narrow Gauge Model based on the Welshpool and Llanfair Railway entitled “Llanerfyl” which was “Railway of the Month” in the Railway Modelling Press. There will also be an appearance of a OO9 vintage quarry layout that was built by Dave Rowe, a skilled modeller, and now looked after by the W&LL Railway.

Admission is £3 for adults and £2 for concessions with accompanied Children free.

“We feel that it is important to encourage young people into the hobby. Come and be inspired," said Martin.
