Mid & West Wales Fire & Rescue Service is urging drivers to be extra vigilant during the inclement weather.
The service says strong winds, heavy rain and localised flooding are causing serious problems for motorists on local roads at present.
Area Manager, Jim Cameron, Corporate Head of Community Risk Reduction said: “We have had several serious collisions in our area this week, and a car trapped in floodwater where a driver had to be rescued by specialist crews. We are asking drivers to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition, with tyres that have adequate tread, windscreen wipers in a serviceable condition and to drive at speeds that allow them to stop safely.”
Mr Cameron said drivers should always consider planning their journey and checking route conditions before setting off and advised a visit to Traffic Wales at
www.traffic-wales.com for the latest information on local traffic conditions.
