Glyn Davies MP has issued a rallying call for local students to take part in Parliament Week 2012 from November 19-25.
The annual national week aims to build greater awareness of and engagement with parliamentary democracy and is organised by the House of Commons and House of Lords.
Mr Davies is writing to every school in the area, encouraging students to take part by:
- attending one of the many Parliament Week events happening across the country (details at www.parliamentweek.org)
- watching the live screening of the UK Youth Parliament from the House of Commons on Friday, November 23
“I am pleased to support this exciting initiative exploring how democracy affects citizens and how they can participate in it,” said Mr Davies. “I often meet people in Montgomeryshire who are keen to find out more about Parliament and politics. I would urge everyone to visit the Parliament Week website to learn more about the history of Parliament, the work of Parliamentarians and democracy.”
