Labour v Conservative police shoot-out

31/10/2012 @ 11:08

With less than three weeks to go before the Police and Crime Commissioner elections, voters in the Dyfed Powys Police area are reminded that they will have a straight choice between two candidates.

Dyfed Powys is one of the few areas in the country where only two candidates are standing for election on 15th November.

Elsewhere where there are two or more candidates, a Supplementary Vote system will operate whereby each voter will have the opportunity to vote for the first and second choice candidates.

“This will not be the case in Dyfed Powys” stressed the Police Area Returning Officer, Mr Bryn Parry-Jones.

“As there are only two candidates standing, voters have a straightforward choice and will be asked to make their selection using only one cross as in a General Election.”

To take part in the election, householders must be registered to vote. The deadline for this is today (Wednesday) – the same day as the deadline for postal vote application forms.

The two candidates in the Dyfed Powys Police area are Christine Gwyther (Welsh Labour) and Christopher Salmon (Welsh Conservative).

Information on both of them is available from the website: www.choosemypcc.org.uk.
