Our Facebook followers pass 2,500!

There’s been yet another landmark passed by MyWelshpool.

Our Facebook Page, which readers join to benefit from news alerts and the ability to comment on stories, has broken through the 2,500-follower barrier!

New followers ‘like’ the Facebook page by the day and the site also runs a Twitter page which now has 1,170 followers and counting.

MyWelshpool was the founding father of MyTown Media Ltd which services towns and areas with hyper local news sites. The first was launched in August 2010, followed by MyNewtown in December 2010 and, only last month, MyRadnor and MyBrecon were launched to national acclaim.

The introduction of these new sites pushed the company's aggregate social media followers to more than 6,000.

Co-founder David Williams said: “We have found the right formula of linking social media platforms to our sites which helps to drive the high traffic numbers that we enjoy. This landmark is the latest of a number of proof points that underlines the county’s need for strong, professional online local news and information.

“We are investing in areas that have been vacated by the more traditional media. We now have experienced reporters based in Welshpool, Newtown, Llandrindod Wells and Brecon. We have got Powys covered.”
