Severn Trent’s Borfa Green blunder

11/10/2010 @ 01:54

Residents were astonished this week to learn that Severn Trent Water had relocated an entire Welshpool estate across the border to Shropshire!
And in an effort to reassure residents of Borfa Green that upcoming mains works would not cause too much disruption, the company explained that they would work closely with ‘Staffordshire Highways’ to communicate possible road closures!
Bemused residents contacted mywelshpool and were even wondering whether the letters were actually meant for Welshpool’s Borfa Green after all.
One father said: “We have had a bit of a chuckle about it because it seems someone at Severn Trent has got themselves into a right old muddle over where Borfa Green actually is! Firstly they say we are in Shropshire and then Staffordshire? I wonder if the letter was actually intended for us!”
Mywelshpool double checked with Severn Trent Water who confirmed the clerical error and have apologised to residents for the confusion.
A spokesperson said: “Severn Trent apologises to the residents of Borfa Green, Welshpool for the letter they received about work being carried out in their area.  A clerical error lead to Borfa Green being described as being in Shropshire and Severn Trent having worked with Staffordshire highways to sort out the traffic management plans.”
The work will start today (Monday) and should be completed by the year’s end.
