Town's water supply cut off by burst pipe

Large numbers of Welshpool homes faced tea time without water tonight, Tuesday.

Homes in the Borfa Green, Brookfield Road, Croft Road, Brynfa, Brynyddol and Acorn Rise areas were cut off from their supply by a burst water pipe at the Dingle Road junction with Brookfield Road.

A spokesperson for Severn Trent Water Authority said that it was not known how long the supply would be off. "Members of our team are on site and have been waiting for parts to repair the damaged pipe," she said.

"We regret the inconvenience but can assure everyone that the supply will be returned at the earliest possible time."
