Maesydre School has confirmed that a teacher currently under suspension has been found dead in Shrewsbury.

News of Mr Andy Eddyshaw’s death circulated on social media yesterday and it was confirmed this afternoon by headteacher Mr Russell Cadwallader. Police said he died from natural causes and there would not be an investigation.

In a letter to parents, Mr Cadwallader said: “It is with regret that I have to inform you of the death of Mr Andy Eddyshaw. Mr Eddyshaw was a teacher at the school from 2004. He will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.”

Although never officially confirmed, it is understood that Mr Eddyshaw  was suspended from the school last year pending an investigation. Powys County Council has not commented on the nature of the investigation.

One parent told us this afternoon: “I remember he was a pretty heavy smoker but he seemed to be well liked by the kids. We were surprised when he was suspended and this news now is very sad.”
