She’s got the whole world, in her hands!

Welshpool starlet Adele Nicoll has introduced herself to the athletics world with a tremendous double at the World Indoor Throwing event at the weekend.

The Welshpool athlete (pictured on the podium) made a huge impact in Växjö, Sweden by winning the U17 ladies shot title on Saturday and then followed that up with the discuss title on Sunday.

Her throw of 15.64m with the 3kg shot was a personal best and her 40.88m discuss mark clinched the double in style.

“I am really pleased with how it all went and I can look forward now to the World Youth Championships later this year,” said Adele this morning.

Adele’s throw not only set a new British shot record, but it achieved the UK athletics qualifying standard for the World Youth Championships which takes place in Donetsk, Ukraine in July.

“It’s shaping up to be a really exciting year but there is a lot of hard work ahead of the summer to be ready for the busy schedule,” she said.
