Dewi’s marathon fundraiser

A local teacher is tackling the two marathons on either side of the Atlantic this year to raise money for Save The Children.

Dewi Owen, who also plays in local band The Soul Jets, is taking on the challenge to run the London and New York Marathons to raise more than £2,000 for the charity.

And tomorrow (Saturday) Dewi is holding a Fundraising Coffee Morning in Church House to launch his activities.

“Hopefully 2013 is going to be a big year for me,” said Dewi. “I am hoping to be among the thousands of amateur and professional runners completing the London Marathon this month and then the New York Marathon in November in aid of Save The Children.

“My target is to raise £2000. I will be continuing my training over the next few weeks, so please look out for me in and around Welshpool and give me a wave - I promise to wave back!”
