Saturday night assault on Salop Road

Youngsters walking home from a night on the town are being warned to be on their guard after a man and a woman were attacked in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The police are giving very little information about the attack on Salop Road, but have confirmed that they are “investigating an assault on a young man” but sources tell us that the man was walking home with a female friend when they were attacked by two men.

We have been told anonymously that the attack was unprovoked and police quickly attended the scene. We were not informed of the extent of the injuries received by the unnamed male or what the alleged attackers looked like.

“Making this public may be a warning to others who might not realise the danger of walking the streets late at night,” said our reader.

Police are appealing for information.

“Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw something which might help officers with their inquiries is asked to contact police at Welshpool on 101,” said a spokesperson.
