Urgent plea for carnival support

18/04/2013 @ 09:50

Organisers of the Welshpool Carnival have issued an urgent appeal for the town to get behind the event, which is back after a year on the sidelines.

Urgent support is needed for the Monday, May 27 event in all shapes and sizes from marshalls to police the route to pubs, clubs, organisations and businesses to join the show.
“The call is going out today as we open the entries for floats, walkers, stalls, car booter etc to get involved,” said Trish Hodges, Secretary. There is something for everyone so get in touch with me on 07765 452258 and let’s get the town buzzing about this event once again.”
The parade this year will follow the one-way system from the Scout Hut, Berriew Street and onto Broad Street, Jehu Road, Brook Street, Church Street and then Severn Street.
The floats and walking entries will be judged at The Scout Hut,  Berriew Street, Welshpool at 12.15pm.
“We are also looking for entries for our Cake Decorating (categories U18’s and 18’s and over), Best Vegetable/Fruit Figures (categories U8 and 8-16 years) and Flower Arranging (U18’s and 18’s and over).
“It would be great if we call all pull together - pubs, clubs, schools etc – to make every effort make the Carnival  Parade a success. This can be done through entering a float or by doing a walking entry as in previous years we have been disappointed by the lack of support.
Once again, if you want to get involved, contact Trish on 07765 452 258.
