Step back in time at Powis Castle

19/06/2013 @ 07:38

On Saturday Powis Castle and Garden will be taking visitors back in time to the early 1900’s when the property was in its heyday for an Edwardian Garden Party.

There will be something for everyone with lots going on around the castle and grounds.

There will be a small assortment of craft and food stalls located on the Great Lawn along with local charity stalls. Also on the lawn there will be an assortment of traditional fairground games and rides so, why not have a go on the swing boats or try your luck at the coconut shy?

Welshpool Town Council are placing a competition tent on the Great Lawn too, wherebyou will find categories for all ages and interests, so all the family can enter! Simply register your entry in the tent on arrival. Categories include:

In the courtyard Punch and Judy will keep the children entertained and The Charleston Footwarmers Brass Band will be playing some uplifting traditional tunes.

Children’s trails will be available on the day and craft activities will be taking place in the Old Kitchen.

Admission rates are reduced for the day at £2 for adults and £1 for children (for both castle and garden entrance).

Due to the high visitor numbers expected, once the car park at Powis is filled, cars will be directed to Coed-y-Dinas where a courtesy bus will run regularly. There will also be a minibus from Park Lane gates to the Castle.
