Music to make kids smile!

20/06/2013 @ 02:59

A Welshpool business is smiling, after its song was adopted as the theme for a National campaign.

Health Matters Education has created numerous toolkits over the years for promoting a healthier lifestyle for children, but it has also got its teeth into National Smile Month led by the British Dental Health Foundation.

The campaign has been running throughout June, and is backed up by an official song taken from the company’s ‘Brush Your Teeth’ programme, a national nutrition and oral health educational toolkit designed for children aged 2-4 and 5-7 years old.

“As well as our toolkits, we have a range of Music CD’s,” explained Vicky Bowen, Managing Director of Health Matters Education. “I have written all the lyrics to our songs and it is even me singing on this particular track too! I have written and sung for over 40 songs now.

“Our Music CDs have been produced locally by Ian Gomm from Llanfair Caereinion and also Gwyn Jones at Recordiau Bos Studio based in Llanerfyl. We would like to thank Ian, Karen, Gwyn and Sian James for their continued support.”

National Smile Month focuses on promoting three important oral health messages to youngsters:

-          Brush your teeth for two minutes twice a day using a fluoride toothpaste

-          Cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks

-          Visit the dentist regularly, as often as they recommend
