Projects in Montgomeryshire have been boosted by almost £700,000 of lottery cash recently, news that has been welcomed by local MP Glyn Davies.
A number of groups have been awarded grants from the Big Lottery Fund, including Welshpool 1st Clives Own Scout Group, Llanfyllin High School, Kerry Silver Threads, Llanfechain Horticultural Show & Sports Association, Canolfan Pennat and Llangynog Memorial Hall.
The organisations met the Fund’s criteria to bring real improvements for communities and those in need by supporting health, education, environment and charitable work through funds raised for Good Causes by the National Lottery.
Mr Davies said: “It is great that the Big Lottery Fund does so much to support vital local institutions and organisations across Montgomeryshire and Wales as a whole.
The grants, which total in excess of £625,000, will enable awardees to strengthen and plan for future expansion, as well as enhancing the local communities which they support.
“I am sure the grants will be put to good use, and hope that the Big Lottery Fund continues its fantastic work in supporting local organisations and communities for many years to come.”
