The people of Welshpool are urged to become good citizens and report any anti-social behaviour they may witness under an ongoing initiative.
The local police force has made anti-social behaviour their priority in response to appeals made at public meetings, and the town council has been running a log book over recent weeks to record all reported incidents sent in by the public.
It is the latest initiative targeting nuisance in the town following the installation of CCTV in a number of trouble spots and strict dog fouling measures that were introduced to target persistent offenders.
“The recent public meetings have shown that people are not only fed up with anti-social behaviour, but are also keen to do something about it,” said a Town Council spokesperson.
“Anti-social behaviour can have a serious impact on the community and we are encouraging the town to come together to stamp it out. It can be anything from dog fouling, littering and drink related problems to people making a nuisance of themselves in public areas.
“The Town Council is working with the police to try and tackle all these problems head on at a very senior level to ensure Welshpool remains a great place to live.”
The log book has been running for the past month and residents are invited to email a short note to the council with an outline of the problem, location and date. It should be sent to town.clerk@welshpooltowncouncil.gov.uk.
