Look what’s passing through

Expect disruptions this morning as a massive wind farm load is on its way through Montgomeryshire.

This picture was taken this morning by reader Dan Stanley who said it was trundling through Four Crosses and towards Welshpool shortly before 8am.

He said: “There was a police escort so it was moving along OK. Certainly wasn’t chaotic.”

Last month it was revealed that the Welsh Government had given notice of road closures for July in order to transport the huge turbines through our area towards its final destination in Ceredigion.

Protesters in Montgomeryshire are against plans to build more wind farms to the west of the shire, saying our roads could be clogged up by abnormal loads for years. But the energy industry believes the wind farms are vital to providing a long term sustainable mix of clean energy.
