Organisers of the Llanfair Caereinion Powys Eisteddfod have been overwhelmed by the large number of entries received to compete in the Eisteddfod, which takes place at the Caereinion Leisure Centre on July 19 and 20.
Glandon Lewis, Chair of the Llanfair Caereinion Powys Eisteddfod Committee said: “We’re so pleased to have received so many entries and we thank people from within the local community and further afield for supporting us.
“The Eisteddfod promises to be a fantastic event which will bring people of all ages together to compete in competitions including signing, recitation, dance, art and literature. I encourage as many people as possible to turn out to enjoy the occasion.
“I would also like to thank members of the committee who are working tirelessly to finalise the programme for the Eisteddfod. Although a small group, their commitment and dedication is amazing and I’m confident that their hard work will lead to a wonderful Eisteddfod.”
Llanfair Caereinion has been the setting for the Powys Eisteddfod many times including in1894, 1913, 1927, 1961, 1976, 1990 and 2000.
The Eisteddfod will close on July 21 with a grand concert hosted by the internationally renowned male voice choir Cantorion Colin Jones. It’s a concert not to be missed and tickets are available from the Caereinion Leisure Centre on 01938 810634.
