Police are on the trail of a gang of thieves operating across Montgomeryshire, and are warning local householders to be on their guard.
Four robberies of similar nature have targeted cash and jewellery over the past few weeks and police say they are keen to trace a dark coloured BMW in particular.
“We are seeing these burglaries happen during the day time and sometimes when people are at home,” said Detective Constable Zoe Powell. “I would ask members of the public living in this area to be particularly vigilant and report any sightings of suspicious people or vehicles to us.
“We’re particularly interested in tracing a dark coloured BMW vehicle. But we want people to report anything which they think is suspicious.”
She then delivered a direct appeal to residents.
She said: “You are our eyes and ears when we’re not around and we need as much information as possible in order to catch those responsible. And remember to keep your properties secure, even when you are at home.”
Any information can be passed on to Welshpool CID by calling 101.
On Friday a Middletown family offered a 2,500-pound reward for the arrest and capture of a thief(s) who broke into their home and stole items, including a child's moneybox. That case is being handled just across the border by the West Mercia force.
