Sweet chick is the talk of Powis!

Powis Castle has welcomed the timely arrival of a new attraction!

With the sun bringing huge volumes of visitors to the town’s leading tourist attraction, staff and volunteers alike have been delighted by the arrival of a baby peacock.

The fluffy character (pictured) arrived last week and has already created quite a stir.

A Castle spokesperson said: “It is unnamed as of yet and is Powis Castle’s only arrival this summer so its mother, the peahen, is keeping a very close eye over it. We are yet to determine whether the chick is a male or female but an update will follow over the coming weeks.”

The hungry chick is already taking an interest in visitors’ lunch offerings and won’t stay small for long, so visitors are encouraged to see the inquisitive ball of fluff soon, before it grows up.

The courtyard, garden, restaurant and shop are open daily from 11am – 5.30pm.
