Welshpool Town Council has won a prestigious award for the work that went into creating the town’s regeneration and community plan.
Welshpool was recognised at the Towns Alive National Awards (Wales Zone region) 2013 by winning the Social and Community Category.
The plan gathered input from a questionnaire delivered to every household in the town before the feedback was incorporated into the town plan which will shape the immediate future of Welshpool.
An Awards spokesperson said: “The award recognises the work of the Town Council to help the Town Centre and the local community. Not only has a plan been produced but it is being acted upon. Such items include taking over the Tourist Information Centre and public toilets, art projects, bunting in the Town Centre, bringing a market back on the street (although still early days), what’s on in Welshpool leaflets, Town Guide, business forum, playgrounds, country park and more.”
