Local Walking Trails app launched

22/07/2013 @ 01:49

An interactive smartphone app promoting a series of themed walks across the county has been developed by Powys County Council.

Trails Mid Wales has been developed by the council's Tourism Service and the app includes a trail that has been created thanks to the efforts of pupils from a Brecon primary school.

Hazel Bowen of the council's Tourism Service, helped develop the app, said: "We sincerely hope that this application and ibooks will prove to be an engaging and useful product for the visitor but also an effective marketing platform for local businesses."

There is an opportunity for businesses to be included on the application allowing visitors to discover places to eat, stay, local attractions, shopping outlets and more. Advertising will be free until April 2014 to test the effectiveness of the application.

Trails Mid Wales can be downloaded from both the Apple and Android store while the ibooks can be downloaded from the gallery at www.bookry.com.
