Powys County Council will be webcasting a meeting in early September where planners will consider an application for a 23 turbine wind farm near Llanbadarn Fynydd, and for road upgrades that will allow abnormal load deliveries through Newtown for the construction of the proposed wind farm.
The council’s Planning, Taxi Licensing and Rights of Way Committee will hear the application for the Garreg Lwyd Hill Wind Farm, and a separate application for the associated road upgrades between Newtown and the proposed wind farm, at its meeting in County Hall, Llandrindod Wells, on September 5 starting at 10am.
Cabinet Member for Communications, Councillor Gareth Ratcliffe said: “Wind farm related applications are always of considerable interest to the people of Powys. To allow as many people to see and hear the meeting the county council is again broadcasting proceedings live on the internet.
“We also expect residents will attend County Hall and are doing all that we can to accommodate as many people as possible but space is limited and numbers will be restricted.”
Access to County Hall will be by ticket only, with around 50 public seats available in the chamber, and a further 77 in overflow rooms, where the proceedings will be broadcast live. Tickets will be issued from 8.30am on the day of the meeting on a first come first serve basis but will not be allocated in advance.
Visitors are also advised that there will be no public parking available on the day and that they should use the town’s pay and display car parks, although there will be disabled parking spaces available for visitors with a blue badge.
The webcast will be accessible for residents by going to www.powys.public-i.tv or by clicking on a link from the front page of the county council's website, but viewers need to ensure that they have Flash or Silverlight software (available free of charge on the internet) installed on their device before the event, in order to be able to view the webcast.
This site will also give access to any documents or presentations associated with the event.
