Following last week’s dramatic chase when a police helicopter was used to make arrests in both Llanerfyl and Welshpool, police have charged two men with five rural burglaries.
Welshpool was gripped when a police chopper was circling over the town centre assisting officers on the ground in catching three suspected Tesco shop lifters. It was later revealed that the chopper was on its way home from assisting an operation close to Llanerfyl and had stopped to help.
Police say that the two men arrested in the earlier operation have been charged with five burglaries in Llanerfyl, Llanfyllin and Llanwddyn between August 26 and 28. An 18-year-old from Wrexham was charged with five burglaries while a 20-year-old from Oswestry has also been charged with several motoring offences as well as the burglaries. Both have been released on bail and are due before magistrates in Welshpool on September 17.
Following their arrests officers have recovered several items (below) and ask residents to check their sheds and garages to see if they belong to them (contact Newtown CID on 101).
