Residents are invited to check up on the progress of the work being done on Christ Church when its owners hold an open day on Sunday from 10am-5pm.
The Church is going through a transformation and the day is part of the Open Door initiative coordinated by The Civic Trust for Wales. Open Doors gives everyone the chance to visit historic buildings and sites free of charge. Over 300 properties, many not normally open to the public will be taking part.
Christ Church is a redundant Victorian church, in Welshpool. Now in private ownership, it is being restored and converted into a family home. Once the restoration work is complete, the nave will be open for public use once again.
During the Open Day, visitors have the opportunity to view the interior of the nave, read about the history of the church (including the current owners’ 10-year chapter of their history), and have the rare chance of seeing the ground floor of the house conversion.
