Vandalised already!

It beggars belief but Welshpool’s new Country Park has already been struck by vandals.

Less than two weeks after being opened for the whole community to enjoy, the children’s playground has been vandalised with obscenities scribbled onto the wooden poles. Police are believed to have apprehended a suspect.

“It is a shame, but the town council will persist is aiding the Police in stopping this sort of behavior,” said Town Clerk Robert Robinson. “The Council wishes to remind persons who persist in this sort of behaviour that a fully working CCTV camera system is in operation in the town and is used.”

When MyWelshpool visited this morning (Monday), despite clearly marked rubbish bins, empty drinks bottles had also been left on the floor less than five yards away.

Corfield’s Country Park opened its gates to the town on September 2 and has been warmly welcomed by users. It is located close to The Flash.
