As the wet weather hits us with a vengeance, drivers are being advised to get their tyres checked for free.
With poor tyre condition identified as a major contributor to road accidents, Mid & West Wales Fire and Rescue Service has arranged surgeries across the county for motorists to pop in to for a quick check.
Their Powys Community Safety teams will be at Welshpool Fire Station on October 28 and Montgomery Market hall on October 31.
Crew Manager Mark Davies said: “We are keen to make people aware of the importance of undertaking regular tyre safety checks.
“We want all drivers to have a look at their existing car tyres, including the spare, and make sure they are legal and in good condition. If in doubt, call in at your local garage or tyre specialist who will check that your tyres are ready for the more challenging driving conditions that any inclement weather might bring.
“Drivers should make sure that tyres are correctly inflated and remember to keep their distance from other vehicles to ensure they are able to stop in enough time to avoid collisions”
