Technogroup Welshpool future in doubt

06/11/2010 @ 11:12

The future of Technogroup Welshpool Football Club is hanging by a thread after another bizarre twist hit the troubled Maesydre side.

Following the shock resignation of new manager Mike Barton on Saturday morning the club is now on the verge of pulling out of the Huws Gray Cymru Alliance.

Barton has circulated his squad that the club has informed him that the players are free to look for new teams as Welshpool will be resigning from the Cymru Alliance.

The news comes following the worst month in the club's history that has seen them docked 15 points for fielding ineligible players and lose two managers - Graham Evans also left citing external interference in team issues.

The scheduled match at Penrhyncoch on Tuesday is believed to be cancelled and the club will hold an emergency meeting at the Maesydre ground on Monday night. The meeting has been called by chairman Mike Dawkins.

One player, who did not wish to be named, told www.mywelshpool.co.uk that he was stunned. "I didn't think it could get any worse but it looks like it just did. This looks like the end."

The club's General Manager and Secretary Liam Pritchard was unavailable for comment.
