Too many charity shops: Poll

09/11/2010 @ 08:28

Just a week after one was named Britain’s best for raking in more than £100,000, a mywelshpool.co.uk poll has revealed the people of Welshpool believe there are too many charity shops.
Our front page poll, which is still live and can take your vote, asks ‘what do you think of charity shops in Welshpool’ and an incredible 65 per cent of participants said that there are too many in the town. Just 26 per cent said they like them and are regular shoppers while the rest said they had never bought anything from one.
The numbers are surprising considering last week the town’s British Heart Foundation shop received recognition from its national chief executive for topping its performance figures over the last 12 months.
Welshpool’s charity shops have dominated the main street over the last decade with five currently taking prime positions along with local traders and national high street giants.
