Local police have praised a verdict which saw Judge Nicholas Parry jail a Montgomery man for 15 years at Mold Crown Court on six specimen counts of the systematic and repeated rape of a female between the ages of 12 to 17.
Police said in a press release that the verdict against Idris Llewellyn Pugh, 56, came as a result of the combined efforts of uniform officers attending the home address on the night that the report came in, reactive CID and the protracted work of Public Protection Unit (PPU) officers.
DC Lynne Humphreys of the Dyfed-Powys PPU said: “This is a particularly satisfying sentence and thoroughly deserved due to the manner in which this individual had repeatedly raped his victim over a sustained period of time. Dyfed-Powys Police is committed to supporting the victims of sexual assault and successfully prosecuting the offenders.”
Following his release, Pugh will be a registered sex offender for life.
A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We would like to reassure the public that it treats, and will continue to treat, all allegations of sexual assaults very seriously and sensitively. We work with a range of partner agencies to ensure all victims receive as much support, help and advice as they need and that all allegations are investigated thoroughly.
